The Artist

Dejan Jovanovic has been an artist for more than 20 years. He has spent his life immersed in applied art and high craft. Dejan trained as a sculptor in Serbia and has been established in Washington, DC since 2002 where Dejan Studio Jewelry began. Dejan grew up surrounded by art and creativity. From as early as he can remember he was fascinated by creating shapes and had the freedom to enjoy creating in the studio of his father who was a sculptor. Dejan went on to train as a sculptor at Belgrade University School of Applied Arts in Serbia where he focused on the challenges of creating large-scale sculptures and graduated top of his class with honors. He later graduated with his MFA in metal design from East Carolina University School of Art and Design in North Carolina.

Dejan has exhibited his work in the US and Europe and has worked on fabrication and metalsmithing projects for many private clients including the White House, Smithsonian Institution and Washington National Cathedral and has also worked for Tiffany and Co. His work has been featured in many publications including Martha Stewart Weddings, Washingtonian magazine and American Craft. His passion for creating has won him numerous international prizes and awards and set him on the path to where he is today. Dejan personally consults with his clients. He creates jewelry of all types but with special focus on limited edition pieces and custom designed rings. All of Dejan Studio’s pieces are designed by Dejan and are hand fabricated and finished in 18k gold, palladium, platinum, and silver in his studio. Jewelry designer Dejan Jovanovic draws inspiration from nature and the universal language of shape and form, translating subtle organic shapes and asymmetry into his pieces. His work demonstrates his exploration of ancient metalsmithing forms and techniques which he revives with a modern, sophisticated sensibility. His craftsmanship and the interplay of the various elements combine to create harmony in his contemporary designs.

The Jewelry

Dejan specializes in one-of-a-kind custom jewelry made from the most exquisite choices of uniquely cut gemstones, sparkling diamonds, pearls, opals, and other stones on request. Pieces are made from 18k, 22k and pure 24k gold, platinum, sterling silver, bronze and stainless steel. All pieces embody a sense of both elegance and rarity; they are works of art that intensify life’s most celebratory and memorable moments; jewelry that stands the test of time.

Each piece is made by hand using traditional techniques combined with modern technology. We have a selection of rings, bracelets, brooches, pendants, necklaces and cuff links available, and other items can be made by special order. Customized pieces all carry European-style detail, elegance and luxury.
